Purpose
This module is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge, practical skills and understanding requires to provide and coordinate 1st Aid in the workplace in Compliance with the requirements of the Safety Health Welfare at Work (general Application) Regulations 2007. Preferred entry level – QQI Level 4 certificate or Leaving certificate and / or life or work experience
Aims
Learners who successfully complete this module will:
- Understand the responsibilities of the Occupational 1st Aider
- Be able to provide treatment for the purpose of preserving life or minimising the consequences of injury until discharge or the arrival of medical assistance
- Be able to provide treatment in the workplace for an injury which does not require the attention of a medical practitioner or nurse
- Be capable of coordinating 1st aid arrangements in the workplace
- Be familiar with health and safety legislation on 1st aid provision in the workplace

Certification
On completion of the course, attendees’ knowledge and skills will be examined by an examiner registered with the OFAAA. If successful, attendees will receive a FETAC Occupational First Aid Certificate.
Course Validation
All of Healthcare Training Solutions 1st Aid Instructors and 1st Aid examiners are on the OFAAA Register of 1st Aid Trainers.
Maximum 10 participants per course
